It may not have been pretty, but the Hurricanes are moving on. The Sporting News tracked live updates as Miami took down Texas A&M on the road in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
On 3rd and 7, Miami took the lead back. Malachi Toney took a sweep 11 yards into the end zone to give the Hurricanes a 10-3 lead over Texas A&M with 1:44 left to play in the College Football Playoff first-round matchup.
In the marquee matchup of the night, No. 16 Texas finally put all the pieces together and upset bitter rival and No. 3 Texas A&M in a result that knocked the Aggies out of the SEC title game. The Longhorns kept alive their own College Football Playoff hopes, but they'll need some help to get in the field.
For the first time since 2010, Texas football welcomed Lone Star Showdown rival Texas A&M to Royal-Memorial Stadium in Austin, and the Longhorns handed the Aggies their first loss of the season.
Mike Elko: "We lost the game at the line of scrimmage. We couldn't keep them off of us or get the run game established. They finished with seven sacks. You can't play playoff football and not win the line of scrimmage. We lost the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball."
